Jamie Davis joined VERSUS in September 2008 and oversees the network’s day-to-day programming, production, marketing, finance and sales operations, while directing and executing an overall strategic growth plan and vision for the network.
With Davis at the helm VERSUS has become the fastest growing sports cable network in the country, led by the monumental success of the 2009 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs which featured some of the highest-rated postseason rounds on cable in more than decade, triple-digit ratings growth for the 2009 Tour de France, and the successful launch of the IndyCar Series as well as original programming debuts such as Sports Soup and Sports Jobs with Junior Seau.
A seasoned television sports executive with more than 18 years of industry experience, Davis joined VERSUS from ESPN STAR Sports (ESS), a joint venture between News Corporation and The Walt Disney Company, where he served as Managing Director for the group from 2005 to 2007. ESS is Asia’s leading sports broadcaster with 15 television networks across 24 countries, including China, India, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Korea and the Philippines. Under his leadership, ESS experienced unprecedented financial growth while he redefined the vision for the company, transforming it from a television broadcaster to a digital multi-media content provider.
Prior to ESPN STAR Sports, Davis worked for The News Corporation for 11 years in various roles, including a four-year stint as the President of STAR, China. He was also a member of the Fox Sports launch team and served as an original member of the senior management in that organization.
His achievements at VERSUS earned him a place on the 2009 “CableFAX 100” list, which honors the top 100 most influential people in cable, and a spot on Sports Business Journal’s “People to Watch” list for 2009. Davis is on the Board of Directors for Special Olympics Pennsylvania (SOPA) and is an executive committee member of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO), an organization that connects the world’s most successful young presidents and CEOs in a global business network uniting nearly 17,000 members in more than 100 countries.
He is a graduate of Colgate University in New York with a bachelor of arts, and received his M.B.A. from New York University’s Stern School of Business. He lives in the Philadelphia area with his family.
