British born Ian Carter started his career with General Electric in the Netherlands and worked in increasingly larger roles around the world, culminating in him becoming President of GE's global Specialty Chemicals business based on the east coast of the USA.
In 2000 he moved to Black & Decker Corporation as President of Europe and Asia and an officer of the company based just outside London.
In 2004 he became CEO of Hilton International before the UK FTSE listed company was acquired by Hilton Hotels Corporation of the USA. He remained with the newly enlarged Corporation as President of Global Operations based in McLean Virginia where he and his family currently live.
Ian also serves on the Boards of Burberry Plc and Black and Decker Corporation as a non executive director and is Chairman of the Hilton in the Community Foundation Charity.
