Andrew Barrett is currently Vice-President of Global Marketing Properties for LG Electronics, based in Seoul South Korea. His responsibilities include managing LG’s major global sponsorship programs including sporting programs such as: FIS Snowboarding, International Cricket, and strategic partnerships with brands such as Prada. The most significant sports program is the Global Partnership with Formula 1, which saw LG become the largest global partner with Formula One Management.
Prior to taking on this role in December 2008, Andrew had spent two years as the Vice-President of Marketing for LG Canada, and while in this capacity he was awarded Canadian Marketer of the Year by a prestigious Canadian Industry publication, and was accredited as one of the Event Marketers of the year in North America by a prestigious North America marketing publication.
Andrew began his career in 1989 at Procter &Gamble and worked in many marketing roles for seven years. He next joined Diageo, in the Pillsbury division in 1996. He really crafted his sponsorship and event management when he became Vice-President of Marketing for Molson Canadian, Canada’s largest beer brand. Like all big beer brands, Molson Canadian had a large portion of its marketing programs anchored in events and sponsorship. This included: 3 Molson Indy (CART) events, NHL Hockey, NBA basketball, Major Sports Venues, CFL Football, and numerous major music tours and concerts.
While mostly working on the client side for most of his career, he also spent 4 years as a Vice-President with J Walter Thompson, the world’s largest advertising agency, with responsibility for New Business development and strategic business consulting, just prior to joining LG.
When he is not travelling around the world in his official work capacity, he spends time with his wife Karen and their two sons at their home in Toronto Canada and whenever possible snow skiing either in Ontario, or from helicopters in Western Canada.
